The WFU Humanities Institute’s Story, Health, & Healing Initiative in Narrative Medicine presents “As one incapable of her own distress”: Hamlet, Storytelling, & Public Health Outcomes, a presentation by Stephen Wrentmore at 5:30pm on Thursday, February 27th at Wake Downtown in the Auditorium (Room 4802).

How many characters in Hamlet have the chance to save Ophelia’s life? Join the SHH initiative in Narrative Medicine for a presentation in which Stephen Wrentmore, Assistant Professor of Theatre at Wake Forest University, discusses how we can explore issues of medical intervention through an analysis of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and how the practice of storytelling is invaluable to the fields of healthcare.

Stephen Wrentmore joined the faculty at WFU in the Fall of 2024. He is a British-born arts leader, award-winning director, writer, and academic. He is passionate about the transformational power of the arts and inspired to tell and share stories, bringing audiences, communities, and artists together in a celebration of all the complexities of being human.
