“Worlds of Interconnection: Freedom-Making in the New Security Establishment”
A Lecture by Gaye Theresa Johnson
Tuesday, February 23rd, 5:00pm
The Wake Forest University Humanities Institute and the Center for RECAAL present “Worlds of Interconnection: Freedom-Making in the New Security Establishment,” a lecture by Gaye Theresa Johnson at 5:00pm on Tuesday, February 23rd.
In the wake of some of the largest and most visible protests for racial justice, a popular discourse is reinvented, equivocating public safety with national security. In this talk, Gaye Theresa Johnson examines the changing prominence of this discourse, arguing for diverse modalities of inquiry and radical proficiencies in racial justice; and queries educator and institutional commitments to traditions of Black feminist radicalism and regenerative models of intersectional organizing.
